Dear Families,

Welcome back to another school year! My name is Ms. Fisher and I will be your child’s math teacher. I am sure we are all happy to be back in the classroom with our friends. I endeavor to do my best to provide a learning community filled with new challenges and experiences. Our classroom will be a space where all students are respected and feel safe to share their ideas, help one another, and learn together!

My goal this year is to find the best way to assist students in learning the math concepts, as well as, help students adjust to middle school. The concepts that will be covered this year include: Data Displays & Number Systems, Fraction Operations & Ratios, Decimal Operations and Percent, Algebraic Expressions & Equations, Area & Volume Explorations, Equivalent Expressions & Solving Equations, Variables and Algebraic Relationships, Applications: Ratios, Expressions, and Equation

Each day students will engage in learning through direct instruction, peer tutoring, games and technology. Homework will be given to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom. Students are expected to complete assignments each night.

Over the next few weeks your child will be participating in some formative math assessments. These assessments will not be used as grades for their report card, but instead will help determine any learning gaps that may have occurred. This data will help me to guide instruction and amend curriculum.

Along with your help and support, I am confident that your child will have a successful school year. Please see the syllabus that is posted in the Math Google Classroom. Rules, expectations, homework procedures, and grading are all discussed in the syllabus.
