Welcome to the new school year, TJ families! My name is Tara Murzenski, and I am so excited to be a part of your seventh grade English experience. Reading, writing, and being part of a student-centered learning community have long been passions of mine. After studying English and education at Fordham and Rutgers, I taught three years of middle school English in Fairfax County, VA as well as a year of community college at Union and Essex County Colleges.
I currently reside in Morris County with my husband and sons and have been teaching 7th grade English at TJ since 2011. I am so proud of and passionate about our always evolving curriculum in 7th grade English. It mixes great literature with powerful nonfiction that makes us think, makes us feel, and helps us connect and grow. In addition to honing my students’ growth as readers, I also look forward to helping them develop as writers. Reading and writing skills are always developing on a continuum, and my top goals are engagement, enjoyment, and growth.
