Mrs. Bonito

Lang/ Lit. Teacher

Dear Parents,

Welcome to seventh and eightgrade language arts and literature connections! My name is Ms. Bonito, and I have been an English teacher for seventeen years. I began my teaching career at the high school level, teaching grades 9-11. In 2013, I was hired as the Reading Specialist at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and have been teaching here (grades 6-8) ever since. For the past four years, I have also been the Yearbook Club advisor.

This year, in language arts, our focus of study will be on short stories, poetry, nonfiction, and grammar. In literature connections, we will read our core novels, including Echo and The Giver. In both classes, we will learn and practice reading strategies to understand and analyze texts and develop our skills and voices as writers.

As I tell each of my students on the first day of school, my number one rule is as follows: “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” (Aesop). It is my belief that with a bit of kindness and always trying one’s best, success will follow. Please know that I am always here to provide help and guidance to you and your child. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email me.

I am so looking forward to working with you and your child this year! Happy back-to-school!
Sincerely,

Ms. Bonito
