The School Counseling Department at Fair Lawn High School is designed to help you with your academic, vocational, and personal problems. We will provide support and direction through interventions with students, faculty, administrators, parents/guardians and the Child Study Team. Through all four years of high school, your counselor will work with you to develop an individualized program that meets your academic abilities and goals.

Freshmen will meet with their counselors as they acclimate to their new surroundings to learn about what is required of them to graduate, develop a 4 year plan for meeting those requirements, and begin getting into the mindset of looking to their futures beyond Fair Lawn High School. Sophomores will continue to focus their future plans by completing Career Interest Inventories. The results of these surveys will help students develop realistic career goals and give them important information on how to achieve them. Juniors will begin to seriously consider their collegiate or vocational options after high school by meeting with their counselors to put together a list of potential schools and/or careers they would like to pursue. The fall is our busiest time of year as Seniors finalize their list of colleges and universities and begin sending out their applications. Seniors will meet regularly with their counselors to ensure that all their information, recommendations and applications are in order and sent out on time.

To make an appointment with your School Counselor, contact them by e-mail, fill out an appointment request form (available in the Counseling Office), or simply stop by their office. Our doors are always open!
