Monday: Bring your IR book to class to read. Make sure the book is at an appropriate lexile level.  See me to get your book approved.

Tuesday: Bring your IR book to class and the signed permission slip.  The permission slip is due on Thursday.

Wednesday: Bring your IR book to class and the signed permission slip.  The permission slip is due tomorrow!

Thursday: Your During Reading activities are due tomorrow!

Friday: Continue reading your IR book. Don't forget that you need to be finished reading by Friday, December 12.





Week of 11/21-11/25:

MondayBring in the money and signed permission slip for the field trip by Tuesday, November 22. We cannot accept any late submissions. No other homework is assigned.

Tuesday:  Finish reading "Alicia & I Talking on Edna's Steps"-"Mango Says Goodbye Sometimes" and answer all questions.  Test on The House on Mango Street is on Friday.
Wednesday: Create your own Study Guide for The House on Mango Street  test on Friday.  We will be playing Kahoot tomorrow in class, so you may bring your BYOD.
Thursday: Study for The House on Mango Street test tomorrow! Also, bring in the money and signed permission slip for the field trip by Tuesday, November 22.  We cannot accept any late submissions.

Wednesday: Read "Sally"-"Bums in the Attic" and answer all comprehension questions.
Thursday: Read "Beautiful and Cruel" and "A Smart Cookie"; answer all comprehension questions.
Friday:  Finish reading "What Sally Said" and "The Monkey Garden"; answer all comprehension questions if you did not finish them in class. 





Week of 10/24-10/28:

Monday:   Quiz on Section 3 vignettes is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 25. Please fill in your group's section of the Study Guide.
Tuesday: Read the first two vignettes in Part 4 in The House on Mango Street
Wednesday: Read "Elenita, Cards, Palm, and Water" and "Geraldo No Last Name" and answer comprehension questions.
Thursday: Finish the rest of Section 4 vignettes and answer comprehension questions
Friday:  Finish the allusions worksheet by Monday, October 31.




Week of 10/17-10/21:

Monday: 
 Read the first three vignettes in The House on Mango Street ("Darius & the Clouds"-"The Family of Little Feet") and answer comprehension questions.
                 ***Reminder: Tomorrow is the Book Fair! We will be going during this                            class period.
Tuesday:  Read "A Rice Sandwich" and "Chanclas" in The House on Mango Street and answer all questions. Bring your phones to class tomorrow. We will be going on a field trip to look at the clouds and write about them.  You can bring a blanket to sit on if you want. 
Wednesday: Work on cloud vignette.
Thursday: Finish Section 3 vignettes
Friday: Cloud vignette is due on Monday, October 24. Quiz on Section 3 vignettes is Tuesday, October 25


Week of 10/10-10/14:

Monday:  No homework, but study for the quiz on Friday for Section Two vignettes in The House on Mango Street!
Tuesday:
NO HOMEWORK; You will have time to finish the two-column chart in class on Thursday.
Wednesday: NO SCHOOL
Thursday:  Work on the Google doc to complete the Study Guide for the Part II quiz on Monday
Friday: Study for the Part II quiz on The House on Mango Street

Monday: No School
Tuesday: No School; Study for quiz tomorrow on Section 1 in The House on Mango Street("The House on Mango Street"-"Laughter") vignettes.
Wednesday: Study for the quiz on Section 1 vignettes.
Thursday: Read "Gil's Furniture Bought and Sold"-"Louie, His Cousin, & His Other Cousin" and answer comprehension questions.

Monday Read "Cathy Queen of Cats" in The House on Mango Street and answer questions 1-3
TuesdayRead "Our Good Day" in The House on Mango Street and answer questions 1-4 in complete sentences. Also, fill in the chart for "Our Good Day". You already have this chart in your binder!
Wednesday: Read "Laughter" and answer comprehension questions. Create Study Guide for Section 1 vignettes in The House on Mango Street("The House on Mango Street"-"Laughter") vignettes.
Thursday: Go over Study Guide/Review for quiz tomorrow. 
Friday:
 Quiz on Section 1 of The House on Mango Street. ("The House on Mango Street"-"Laughter" vignettes.  The quiz will be on Wednesday, October 5 for Periods  3 and 6).




Week of 9/19-9/23:

Monday:  Finish the Anticipation Guide before reading The House on Mango Street.
Tuesday: Read the first vignette titled, "The House on Mango Street".  Answer questions 1-3 in complete sentences. 
Wednesday: Read "Hairs", "Boys and Girls", and "My Name". Answer all comprehension questions in complete sentences.
Thursday: Respond to the journal prompt for "My Name".  Prepare a one-page, double-spaced typed response and be ready to present in class tomorrow.  Don't forget to add some of the writing strategies that Sandra Cisneros uses such as: alliteration, similes/metaphors, personification, imagery, sensory details, italicized text for emphasis, repetition, etc.
