Monday-Thursday:  You should be working on your IR project.  It is due on Friday, December 16. 


Week of 12/5-12/9

Monday-Thursday: You should be reading your IR book and filling out your Notice and Note chart.

Friday: Your Notice and Note chart is due on Monday!


Week of 11/28-12/2

Monday: Bring your IR book to class to read. Make sure the book is at an appropriate lexile level.  See me to get your book approved.

Tuesday: Bring your IR book to class and the signed permission slip.  The permission slip is due on Thursday.

Wednesday: Bring your IR book to class and the signed permission slip.  The permission slip is due tomorrow!

Thursday-Friday: Work on your Notice and Note chart. You will need to have a minimum of five examples from your IR book by Monday, December 5. 


Week of 11/21-11/25:

MondayBring in the money and signed permission slip for the field trip by Tuesday, November 22. We cannot accept any late submissions. No other homework is assigned.

Monday: Finish the Notice/Note chart for chapter 12. 
Tuesday: Work on Part I of The Outsiders study guide. The test is on Friday.

Wednesday: Finish Part II of The Outsiders study guide. The test is on Friday.
Thursday:  Study for the test tomorrow.
Bring in the money and signed permission slip for the field trip by Tuesday, November 22. We cannot accept any late submissions.

Monday: No homework! Happy Halloween!
Tuesday: Finish vocabulary for chapter 7 in The Outsiders. â€‹Please underline the vocabulary words.  Finish the Suspense worksheet if you did not finish it in class.

Wednesday: Finish reading chapter 9  in The Outsiders and answer all comprehension questions. 
Thursday: Finish reading chapter 10 in The Outsiders and answer all comprehension questions. Also, if you did not finish the Note/Notice chart for chapter 9 in class, complete that as well.
Friday: Finish the Note/Notice chart for chapter 9 in The Outsiders if you did not finish it yet. I will be checking this on Monday.

Sample Paragraph to study for the quiz. Remember the following rules for writing a paragraph:

1. Topic sentence must include the title of the story( spelled and formatted correctly), the author (spelled correctly), and the main idea of the paragraph
2. Include transitions
3. Give specific examples from the text and explain all characters and conflicts. Do not assume the reader knows what is happening in the story.
4. Answer all parts of the prompt within the paragraph.
5. Include a conclusion sentence that draws a conclusion or shows insight. It should not be repetitive.

Week of 10/17-10/21:

Monday: Write a paragraph (6-8 sentences) on the theme of the loss of innocence in Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay". Use examples from the poem and the text. You may paraphrase.  Use the following format:
Topic sentence: title + author + theme
Introduce an example from the poem + explain
        Introduce an example from The Outsiders + explain
        Conclusion sentence (show insight/draw a conclusion)

***Reminder: Tomorrow is the Book Fair. We will be going during this class.
     

Tuesday: You have an extra day to complete your paragraph discussing the theme of innocence lost in both the poem, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
Wednesday: Finish reading chapter 6 in The Outsiders
Thursday: Finish the Note and Notice chart for chapter 6 in The Outsiders.
Friday: NO HW

 Study for the quiz on chapters 1-4 in The Outsiders. Study the vocabulary and your comprehension questions.
